Taste: Plant-Based is a 100% vegan specialty foods store located on the Black Horse Pike in Turnersville, New Jersey, 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia. The idea for it came after years of working for my father at Meloni's Butcher Block, introducing several plant-based dishes, and seeing them boom into something customers actively sought out, even in a butcher shop. I went vegan in 2016 while pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition at Drexel University. Since finishing the degree in 2017, I completed a dietetic internship and tested to become a registered dietitian, earning that credential in 2019. That journey was not an easy one for me, and I struggled with imposter syndrome during and after my internship experience. I had put a lot of time, effort, and money into becoming a dietitian but ultimately couldn't see myself flourishing in that capacity. After much deliberation, I decided to combine my academic background in nutrition, my customer service experience at Meloni's, and my passion for all things vegan to offer tasty and nutrient-dense foods to my community. I also now have the opportunity to support local businesses that are putting out exciting and unique plant-based products. Taste: Plant-Based is a place for vegans to shop where they don't have to ask any questions about ingredients. It is also a place for anyone who simply enjoys good food, that just so happens to be free of animal products.
